Archie's Cookies: A Dog-Safe Treat for Hootch
Rolled oats, banana, peanut butter, and unsweetened applesauce. Simple, safe, made with love, and gone in approximately four seconds.
When I cook, Archie becomes Hootch — named after the movie Turner & Hooch for the drooling that begins the moment anything hits a pan. Archie talks through the entire process — whines, barks, full sentences of complaint — because to him I am simply too slow at making anything. He’s not wrong.
These are Archie’s own cookies. Simple, safe, made with love. Just four ingredients, twelve minutes, and they are completely safe. And yes, I’m fully aware that he will eat his in approximately four seconds.
Notes
Check the peanut butter label for unsalted and xylitol-free. Every time. Xylitol is toxic to dogs.
I decided to use a dog bone cookie cutter for fun. I’m sure I like it better than he does. He couldn’t care less. Just wants the treat.
The recipe made 10 with the cookie cutter. Small rolled balls made 20 or so. Cool completely before offering.
You can make them Gluten-free using certified Gluten-free oats.
